Dr. Bonakdar Explains: This patient had an incredible transformation with correction of her severe midface volume loss that was making her look gaunt and older than her actual age. A beautiful cheek area has an “S” curve or an ogee curve on 45 degrees view. This curve is described as fullness or convexity followed by a slight dip or concavity. Noticeable in this patient’s before photo is the lack of fullness and instead a severe hollowing or concavity of the tissue between the cheek bone and the jaw bone. Her correction erases this exaggerated hollowness, making her look more natural.
