Dr. Bonakdar Explains: IPL or Intense Pulse Light first became available in early 2000. This technology is used for color correction. Cumulative sun damage causes an overall bronzing of the skin and formation of sun spots. This patient had three IPL treatments spaced 3 weeks apart after pretreatment with a clinical skincare program. Next for her is Chrome fractional laser series with minimal downtime to stimulate collagen production and to enhance her skin tone and texture.

During the procedure, the IPL’s broad-spectrum light energy is absorbed by the pigmented cells.
